How To Hypnotize

Presumptions

Presumptions are a very powerful tool in any hypnotists arsenal. By making an accurate presumption about subject of hypnosis, you can greatly increase his belief in your skills. Many people unaware of how hypnosis techniques work, will believe you posses a mystique power, and you are able to read their minds.

When someone beliefs you hold power over his thoughts, your job is half done. Subject of hypnosis certain, you are able to hypnotize him, will do all the hard work for you.

Important characteristic of human mind is, that when we expect specific outcome of the situation, we tend to do everything towards it. It is mainly because of subconscious mind. Reality is what we believe in, if you are 100% positive someone has unnatural powers of mind reading, you will interpret his every word and action to make this belief work. I hope you start to understand how presumptions can help you to make powerful impact on your subjects mind.

In order to make concept of presumptions clearer for you, I will give you an example. Let's assume a situation in which subject of hypnosis is sitting down, in a relaxed position, with palms of his hands on his laps.

First thing that immediately attracts attention and is a good material for a presumption, are hands touching his laps. We will take advantage of an obvious fact, that when you place hands on your legs, you can feel warmth of palms of your hands.

You begin by describing the sensation of warmth of his hands: "While you feel your hands on your laps, you experience a comfortable warmth radiating from them and relaxing your whole body." Then you ask him to hold his breath for a minute and while he exhales, you use another presumption: "As you exhale, all the the tension in your body releases and you can feel the warmth while it passes through your lips." This is a very smart presumption, as it takes advantage of the fact that, when we hold air in our lungs, it gets warmer and thus, you feel the difference in temperature while breathing it out.

The other characteristic of exhaling that works for your advantage is, that it physically relaxes us. So, subject of hypnosis doesn't have to create this feeling in his head. The fact he experiences every sensation you describe makes him believe, you have a full control over his body and mind. In return this belief becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy and makes him more suggestible and reactive to your commands.

It is very important that you structure your induction in a way, that allows you take advantage of such small opportunities. These kind of slight changes make a whole world of difference. You have to remember that hypnosis is a covert art, so smaller and harder to spot tweaks you make, the more impact they have on your subjects subconscious.

I realize that all of this information may be hard to remember at first. But it is just like learning to drive a car. At first, you have to remain extremely aware of everything that is happening around you, but after some practice, all the actions become your second nature.
